IVF treatments and why it is needed

In vitro fertilization or IVF is a particular advancement of medical science which has brought happiness to many faces and families. It is the process through which many couples are living their dreams of becoming a parent which was not going to be fulfilled if IVF was not introduced. This one is actually a process which includes four steps. These steps are as follows:
  • Induction of ovulation
  • The retrieval of eggs
  • Getting it fertilized in the laboratory
  • Transferring the embryo to the uterus of the woman who wants to become a mother.

In various cases, traditional conception of getting pregnant may not work. This may happen because one of the partners among the couples is infertile. Or it may happen that man y couples are of same sex and they want a child. But for them conceiving a child in a normal way is not possible. That is why; they need this IVF treatment. There are some best IVF centres in Delhi where proper procedure is followed and one can become a parent through it.

There have been many researches which have found out that, IVF works when other kind of infertility treatment fails. Patients may go through a lot of fertility checkups and treatments and then finally lands up to this because the other procedures have failed. These processes may include intrauterine insemination and fertility medications.

Now, who can become a parent through this IVF process? Well, this process is not only restricted to the mother and the baby but one can also take help from a surrogate if a couple wants someone else to carry their child in the womb. There are many women who are physically unable to carry a child or there are same sex male couples who cannot carry a child in their womb. In these cases, surrogates can be a saviour.

In case of IVF treatments egg donation and sperm donation is a very important thing. Many have a question that does each and every woman who is capable of producing eggs can donate them as well? In this case, the answer is no. Here, eggs are always taken from a healthy ovary and then they are donated to women who are facing difficulty in conceiving a baby. There are several other factors as well that decide a woman’s ability to donate eggs. Those who are involved in this process always prefer women of younger age for this process. They mainly go for women who belong to an age group of 21 and 35. This is because; women under this age can respond better to fertility drugs as they have higher quantity and quality of eggs.

In case of sperm donors, the process is also the same. Men with a good sperm count are only allowed to donate sperm in reputed IVF centres. In fact, there are many centres who go fir a proper background check of the donors before running a series of medical tests and then finally deciding on whether they are eligible to donate sperm or not.
